Presidential Office spokesman Dmitri Peskov said on Saturday that the Russian military test-launched 3 types of strategic missiles on Friday.
They included a Topol intercontinental ballistic missile from a base in northern Russia, and an ICBM from a nuclear-powered submarine in the Sea of Okhotsk.
Four more missiles were also launched from strategic bombers that hit their targets at testing site in the north.
Peskov said the exercises also involved the Pantsir air defense system, which successfully intercepted a cruise missile.
He said the missile tests were conducted under the command of President Vladimir Putin. They were the first on such a large scale since the end of the Soviet Union.
