There's good reason to take the recent threats of Islamic terrorism against New York City very seriously IMHO.

I believe there might have been an important reason for the following that traces back to the autumn 2001 Anthrax mailings:

As highlighted in the PBS Frontline episode, The Anthrax Files, the odds are the FBI never really caught the 2001 Anthrax mailer. The true culprit could still be at large. If so, let's all hope and pray he isn't connected to ISIS!

The NYPD and FBI might be on top of this, but, if past performance is a reliable indicator, then...

UPDATE: I just learned that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is scheduled to speak at the U.N. tomorrow.

Anyone living or working in New York City should have a two-week supply of a broad-spectrum antibiotic on-hand IMHO. NYC authorities should have seen to this years ago, but I guess New Yorkers prefer not to think in these terms.

At the least, might I suggest New Yorkers avoid the subway system Monday and maybe next week altogether if they can at all do so?

I pray to my heavenly Father that my concern is unwarranted, and I apologize if so. Better safe than sorry. Beware New York City...

Boris Berezovsky Assassinated By Putin?

From the U.K. Telegraph article, "Assassination fears over death of Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky":

Boris Berezovsky was discovered dead yesterday afternoon at his home in Berkshire.

Early this morning police said they had called in specialist officers to investigate whether he had been killed by a chemical or biological agent or by radiation.

A cordon was put around his home last night after his body was discovered by a bodyguard. Reports from Russia said he was found in the bath at his house in Ascot.



Thames Valley Police said they had called in Scotland Yard and other experts and had kept the 67-year-old’s body in place as the investigation began.

Did Boris Berezovsky fall victim to an assassination ordered by Vladimir Putin?

Berezovsky, an outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, had long feared for his life and had survived repeated assassination attempts — although none in recent years. He had been due to be a witness at the inquest next month into the death of Alexander Litvinenko, the former KGB spy who was murdered in 2006 after being poisoned by radioactive polonium-210 in what is believed to have been a Kremlin-sanctioned assassination.

Billionaire Boris Beresovsky was a close friend and confidante of Alexander Litvinenko, my associate who was assassinated with radioactive Polonium by the Russian secret services in 2006.



In 2005, I started up and ran the Litvinenko Chronicles at the Final Phase forum after learning that Litvinenko, a defector from the FSB who sought refuge in the U.K., had revealed what I long suspected, i.e., that al Qaeda is a Russian-run proxy for Moscow's long-standing program of international terrorism.

The number two person in the terrorist organization al Qaeda, who they are crediting with the series of explosions in London, Ayman al-Zawahiri, is an old agent of the FSB. Being sentenced to death in Egypt for terrorism and hunted by Interpol, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in 1998, was in the territory of Dagestan, where for half a year he received special training at one of the educational bases of the FSB. After this training he was transferred to Afghanistan, where he had never been before and where, following the recommendation of his Lubyanka chiefs, he at once ... penetrated the milieu of bin Laden and soon became his assistant in al Qaeda...

....I can definitely say that the center of global terrorism is not in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan or the Chechen Republic. The terrorist infection is spread worldwide from Lubyanka Square and the Kremlin cabinet. And until the Russian special services are outlawed, dispersed and condemned, the terrorism will never stop: bombs will blow up and blood will be shed. Terrorism has no expiration date.... I would like to repeat, that all the terrorists, whom I have named, were supported by the heads of the Soviet and Russian special services - Yuri Andropov, Vladimir Putin, Nikolay Patrushev and others. These people are the main terrorists.... And until we condemn them ... global terrorism will continue.

I believe it was this revelation in particularly that cost the FSB defector his life.

Boris Beresovsky was Alexander Litvinenko's benefactor who provided the defector a home and helped produce the following documentary based upon Alexander's book: "Blowing Up Russia: Terror From Within":



In Alexander Litvinenko's book and the above documentary, the case is clearly laid out that Vladimir Putin's rise to power was paved with the blood of hundreds of innocent Russians murdered in the 1999 apartment bombings in Russia which were blamed on Chechen rebels but actually carried out by the FSB.

If you find it difficult to fathom that Russian secret services were behind the brazen assassination of Alexander Litvinenko, the 1999 apartment bombings in southern Russia and acts of international terrorism including 9/11, then I suggest you examine the following video showing Russian troops shooting dead the remaining survivors from the 2010 "crash" of of Polish Air Force Tu-154, effectively Poland's "Air Force One", that killed the political and military leadership of Poland:



Time and time again Russia's secret services have committed spectacular acts of assassination and terrorism around the world and are getting away with it because Western intelligence is downright stupid to the fact that the infamous KGB never ceased to exist with a simple name change.

Dow 11K & Dirty Bomb Threat / Mideast Tensions

Going into this weekend and the 10th anniversary of 9/11, there were reports of a credible terrorist threat for a "dirty bomb" attack in NYC and/or Washington DC:

Just two days before the 10th anniversary, New York City is on high alert.

Federal and local authorities have beefed up security after receiving intelligence about a credible threat. The alleged plot by al Qaeda involves detonating car bombs on bridges and in tunnels in New York and Washington D.C. to coincide with the anniversary of 9/11.

The crossroads of the world came to a grinding halt at various times Friday because for police Times Square has become the ground zero of the latest terror threat. Sources told CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer that another attempt to explode a bomb there is a key concern, and the intelligence suggests it could be a dirty bomb.

Ahead of the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, authorities in New York and Washington DC were on high alert after receiving a "credible threat" that was also deemed to be "unconfirmed." The threat appears to be centered around the possibility of a car bomb, with particular concern for Times Square in the heart New York City's midtown which was the site of the last known car bomb attempt by a terrorist linked to Islamic causes.

Authorities are worried that the terrorist operatives could use a radiological "dirty bomb" this time around, according to a local CBS News report. A "dirty bomb" is defined as a conventional explosive device that is packed with common radioactive material, such as the waste discarded by hospitals and power plants.

Checkpoints were established throughout Manhattan, and vehicles and bags were inspected for traces of gunpowder and radiation. Radiation monitors have also been positioned in a 50-mile radius of New York City, throughout New Jersey and Connecticut. Police are also equipped with hand-held radiation detectors.

Now that the 10th anniversary memorials to 9/11 are over, I hope that NYC and federal officials remain vigilant.

For one, the purported purpose of al Qaeda terror attacks (which ultimately trace back to the Kremlin IMHO) are mass casualties. This year 9/11 fell on a Sunday leaving NYC mainly vacant for the memorial services. Dirty bombs are really weapons of mass disruption rather than mass destruction, so if any such attack is truly in the works, the odds are the terrorists would strike on a busy work day.
(Bioterror, on the other hand, is VERY dangerous.) This is particularly so on this occasion since the light traffic on Sunday allowed for very tight security for the 9/11 anniversary.

A second reason to be on alert, and I know most folks will have trouble fathoming this, is that the DJIA dropped sharply last Friday and closed below the psychologically important 11,000 mark:



I have been pointing out for years that significant historical shocks tend to erupt with reversals from psychologically important thousand marks in the DJIA and other major stock averages. One of the most profound examples occurred in early-September 2001 when the DJIA broke below the 10K mark and THEN 9/11 occurred:



Is a reversal from Dow 11K presaging a new terrorist attack in the U.S.? Also note that Egyptian mobs ransacked Israel's embassy in Cairo literally just as the DJIA was closing below 11,000 on Friday.

We are entering the "Fall" season now, so either which way people need to gird themselves for some very troubling days ahead IMHO. A dirty bomb terrorist attack could be part of that, but I think such an incident would be the least of our concerns compared to what's coming down the pike.
