This is potentially dangerous.

My read of the "Arab Spring" has been that a lot of what has been witnessed is not far removed from the "Velvet Revolutions" in Eastern Europe that led to the end of the Soviet Union. The latter 'democratic uprisings' were staged by Moscow's intelligence services as part of the feigned collapse of totalitarian "Communism":



This strategic deception opened the way for Russia and China to wage a false peace that has paid enormous dividends in the form of massive reductions in America's nuclear arsenal, access to Western technology, goading America and the Western powers into "imperialist aggression", etc.

Nevertheless, since the "revolutions" in 1989 seemed to be a victory for democracy, Westerners accepted what they were told at face value since it's what they wanted to believe. Likewise, the seemingly pro-democracy uprisings throughout the Arab world in recent months have come as a welcome surprise in the West since it seems long-time dictatorships are being undone. However, this might be misleading.

Nations like Egypt, Libya and Syria are military states that were setup by the Soviet Union in which the "Mukhabarat", i.e., the secret police, run the show behind the scenes. The uprisings that have occurred in these nations would not have taken place without some degree of instigation and connivance, if not outright choreography, by the Mukhabarat IMHO. (Note how Iran sent warships to transit the Suez Canal BEFORE Hosni Mubarak was overthrown even though there was no reason for Iran to have expected this turn of events....a glaring historical loose end.) The question is thus, why are the secret services in these Arab states stirring what appear to be popular revolts? I do not believe the answer is 'to make way for democracy'. I believe the answer is to 'make way for war on Israel'.

To get a sense of how this is so, one need only note the visit paid by Egypt's new intelligence chief, Murad Muwafi, to Syria in April. This trip, which undoubtedly led to serious concerns in Israel and the U.S., signified how the power struggle in Egypt had resolved in favor of forces interested in war rather than peace with Israel.

The violence that erupted on Israel's borders today, the anniversary of the creation of Israel that Palestinians call the 'nakba' or catastrophe, might signify a historical turning point into a final, all-out Arab-Israel War, and then global nuclear war, that has long been planned by Russia and the Arab powers.

In this regard, let me reiterate that the 'apocalyptic vision' I had in February 1991 started with seeing a special report of a chemical SCUD missile attack on Israel. (With today's news I'm starting to wonder if Harold Camping is not too far off the mark. God have mercy.)

A Quick Review Of Some MISLEADING History

Let me strongly recommend Robert Buchar's new book, And Reality Be Damned:



This book is a transcript of his documentary film that he hasn't released because he can't come up with $40K for video footage rights.



Buchar's documentary contains information critical to the survival of Western Civilization, and he can't get $40K in financing to complete it. Thus, we are set to lose around a quadrillion dollars in wealth and most of our populations and social infrastructure because no one would literally pay a penny for the truth. That's how insanely selfish and self-deluded the West has become.

BTW, I provided Mr. Buchar the idea for the name of his documentary film. Initially he was going to call it, "The Collapse of Communism: Take 2", but now he's going with my suggestion of, The Collapse of Communism: The Untold Story.

I just wish I had $40K to contribute.

Tonight I've been reviewing footage of the fall of the Soviet Union upon the August 1991 "Potemkin Coup" in Moscow. It was so clearly staged and absolute BS, I just scratch my head at why the West believed 'em. The choice to accept this pleasant lie could literally cost Western Civilization its very existence.

First consider top KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn's incisive analysis of the August 1991 coup:

According to my assessment, the Soviet 'coup' and its 'failure' constituted a grandiose display of deception - a provocation. The 'ineptitude' of the participants in the 'coup' and the 'failure' of it were skillfully planned and executed. The main argument in support of this assessment is that the Soviet military, the KGB, the Party and leading media figures apparently had neither the skill to launch a successful coup nor the guts to crush resistance to it. This is news indeed!

Facing a real crisis in Hungary in 1956, the same forces displayed exceptional skill, know-how and determination in crushing a genuine revolt. Knowledge of the Soviet mentality and of Moscow's record of ruthless action has convinced this analyst that the Soviet military, the Party and the leaders of the media all have the skill, the will and the courage to crush genuine resistance and opposition. They did not display them on this occasion because the abortive 'coup' was carried out in accordance with Party instructions; and it was the Party and the Komsomol themselves which organized the alleged resistance to it.

The real participants both in the 'coup' and in the 'failure' were some 20,000 or more chosen Komsomol and Party members in Moscow with two or three tank divisions guided by their political commissars and a handful of dedicated Party officials and generals who sacrificed their prestige in the interests of the Party's strategy and under the guidance of its strategists. The calculated nature of the 'coup' and its timing show that it was staged by the Russian, President Yeltsin, to save the essence of the Union at the time of transition to a new form of federation.

The abortive 'coup' and the 'resistance' to it were carefully calculated displays intended primarily for the West. This explains why Western media contacts with Moscow were not curtailed. On the contrary, the big guns of the Soviet media like Vitaliy Korotich and representatives of the Arbatov Institute were on hand both in Moscow and in the United States to 'help' the Western media with their interpretation of developments in the USSR. The episode shows how well Soviet strategists like Arbatov and his experts on the American media have mastered the art of projecting such displays for consumption by the American media, and throughout the West.

The Soviet strategists sought to underline for the West the dramatic ineptitude of the 'coup' and the spectacular courage and resistance displayed by the new 'Russian democrats' and their leader Yeltsin in 'defending' the Soviet Parliament- their symbolic equivalent of 'The White House'. The main external objective of the display was to demonstrate to the West that Soviet democratization is genuine, that it has the support of the people and that it is working. [Golitsyn, The Perestroika Deception, p.137]

Now consider what a farce the whole affair was from a key Time magazine article from September 1991:

It might have been the most widely advertised coup in history. Rumors and warnings had begun as early as the summer of 1990. According to British intelligence, elements of the Soviet army and KGB actually rehearsed a coup (under the guise of a countercoup) in February of this year. June brought what was soon called the "constitutional-coup attempt." Prime Minister Valentin Pavlov asked the Supreme Soviet for the authority to issue decrees without Mikhail Gorbachev's knowledge, but was rebuffed. In late July hardliners published an announcement appealing for "those who recognize the terrible plight into which our country has fallen" to support dramatic action to end disorder. They might as well have put up billboards shouting COUP!

In hindsight, even the timing seems screamingly obvious. Gorbachev had designated Tuesday, Aug. 20, for the ceremonial signing of a new union treaty with the presidents of the Russian and Kazakh republics; other republics were expected to sign later. The treaty would transfer so many powers -- over taxes, natural resources, even the state security apparatus -- to the republics as to make restoring ironfisted Kremlin control of the whole country impossible. Moreover, a new national Cabinet would have been named by representatives of the republics. Some of the eventual coup leaders, including KGB chairman Vladimir Kryuchkov, Defense Minister Dmitri Yazov and Interior Minister Boris Pugo, would almost certainly have lost their jobs. The plotters could not afford to let that treaty go into effect.

Yet Gorbachev by his own testimony was totally unprepared. To some scholars and Soviet officials that appears so odd as to suggest that the President himself had staged a Potemkin coup to win domestic and foreign sympathy. But that seems farfetched. More probably, the very volume and intensity of coup talk had dulled his political antennae; the cry of wolf was sounding old and tired. Alexander Yakovlev, a close adviser, claimed after it was all over that he had even given Gorbachev the names of some likely -- and, as it turned out actual -- plotters. The President, according to Yakovlev, had scoffed that they "lack the courage to stage a coup."

Yet it was obvious even that early that the coup was ill planned and curiously halfhearted. The plotters neglected to carry out that sine qua non of successful coups: the immediate arrest of popular potential enemies before they could begin organizing a resistance. In particular, the failure to make sure that Yeltsin was taken into custody (there were some reports that an attempt at an arrest was made, but botched) was fatal. Inexplicably, the putschists did not even pull the plug on the communications of anyone except Gorbachev. Bush and other foreign leaders were amazed at how easily they could get through by telephone to Yeltsin; he in turn seems to have had no difficulty coordinating action with other coup opponents across the country.

Most successful coup organizers also begin by moving reliable troops into key positions. Yet U.S. intelligence analysts, poring early Monday over satellite pictures taken during the previous two days, detected no evidence of any unusual troop movements. The Soviet plotters used troops and equipment that happened to be on hand in Moscow and other cities and gave the soldiers only the vaguest idea of what they were supposed to be doing. In Moscow some seemed to think they were participating in an odd sort of parade or drill.

Far from being prepared to crush opposition, the troops were obviously under orders to avoid confrontation if possible and above all not to shoot. Citizens shouted "Fascist!" or worse at the troops, scrawled swastikas in the dirt on tanks parked outside the Russian Parliament Building, climbed aboard armored personnel carriers to argue with the commanders and urge them to turn back -- all with impunity. When the coup leaders decreed a curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., the soldiers made no attempt to enforce it.

In Leningrad troops based inside the city stayed in their barracks throughout the coup. Armored assault units headquartered nearby at one point started moving on the old czarist capital, but reformist Mayor Anatoli Sobchak -- another leader the coup conspirators foolishly left at large -- persuaded the tankmen to halt outside the city.

At 5 p.m. Monday the conspirators finally called a press conference to introduce themselves. Their performance was a disaster. Far from coming across as a take-charge group, they appeared nervous and half apologetic. They gave a preposterous excuse for assuming authority (Gorbachev was too tired and ill to retain command); stressed that the coup was a constitutional devolution of authority to Yanayev, although it clearly was not; and proclaimed a highly dubious devotion to continued reform. Junta member Vasili Starodubtsev sniffled continually, and Yanayev seemed twitchy. As Gorbachev later commented, "They said I was sick, but they were the ones whose hands were shaking."

Gorbachev apparently was listening if not watching. His security guards stayed with him at the Foros dacha, scrounged up some old radio receivers that had been forgotten but not discarded, and set up a jury-rigged antenna so they could monitor foreign radio coverage of the coup. Gorbachev later praised the reporting of the British Broadcasting Corp., Radio Liberty and Voice of America -- without seeming to recognize the irony that all three networks had been jammed by the Soviet government not so very long ago. Though he said he had been subjected to intense "psychological pressure," this apparently consisted of isolation rather than any actual interference with his activities. The President spent part of his time drafting an angry condemnation of the coup, and was so incensed at the reports of his illness that he made four videotapes of himself (he did not say how he got hold of a camera) to prove he was not sick at all.

Tuesday afternoon brought one telltale indication that the junta was losing what grip it had established. After obediently reporting all the pronouncements of the so-called Emergency Committee and little else, TASS suddenly began interspersing them with reports of the burgeoning resistance. For example, it let Soviet citizens know that Aleksei II, Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church and a signer of a December appeal for a law-and-order crackdown, had come out against the coup. (Blogger's note: A telling sign of the trend to come...)

Now go ahead and watch news footage of the events in 1991 and think to yourself, could this really have happened unless it was instigated from the top-down per a larger plan?

Now were the events in 1991 as they appeared?

The unfurling of a giant Russian flag, probably the largest ever created in the world, in the streets of Moscow was particularly rich:





So Boris Yeltsin's 'spontaneous' opposition to the coup just happened to have a quarter-mile long Russian flag sitting around for the throngs of protesters to use to signify the return to Russia? Golly....no props and staging there for Western media coverage. [/SARCASM]

The fireworks capping off the Potemkin coup "failure" and cranes brought in, without resistance, to pull down statues of Lenin and KGB founder Felix Dzerzhinsky were also particularly telling.

The purported "revolution" that occurred in the Soviet Union in 1991 was nothing but staged street theater intended for Western audiences. (Hence the unfettered, if not highly facilitated, access of the Western media to report on the events of the day at the time.)

Unfortunately, only now has it become more clear what the goal has been of the strategic deception kicked off almost 20 years ago.

The KGB effectively threw a coup in Russia and kicked out the Communist party so the secret police organization could run the show without restraint.

Our national tragedy (as well as the tragedy of all other former communist countries) is that there was no clear defeat of the ruling communist system, no Nuremberg-style trial of its crimes, no vigorous lustration (de-communisation) process. The West was quick to celebrate the end of the Cold War and the victory of democracy in the former Iron Curtained countries, but in reality there was no change of "elites" there. The former communist "nomenklatura" has remained in the position of power in all branches of the government, albeit under a different name.

One particular part of the communist "nomenklatura" - the KGB - is of special interest to us. The Soviet secret police/intelligence service, originally called VChK, was defined by Lenin as an "armed detachment of the Party," and remained as such throughout Soviet history, while changing its name every few years (VChK, OGPU, NKVD, MGB, KGB, FSB...). Its prime task was to safeguard the interests of the Party and of its ideology, both at home and abroad.

By the 1970s, like anybody else, they came to resent the ideological supervision of the Party which they perceived as hampering their efficiency. They vigorously supported Gorbachev in his "perestroika" campaign, and he, in turn, has heavily relied on their services. Their task, (as it was the task of Gorbachev's leadership), was to salvage the remnants of the Soviet system, not to abandon it.

This same KGB had infiltrated the Russian Orthodox Church and concluded that Christianity would make for a much more effective ideological front than Communism and has set the stage for establishing a global, tyrannical 'kingdom of god' that will in fact be the totalitarian dictatorship of the Antichrist. The means to that end is world war three and the prophetic Apocalypse.
